I’m Phil. I'm a writer and one thing I know for sure - words are flexible. Especially song lyrics. They're circus freaks. You can bend them to fit the music any way you like.
The other thing I know - musicians would rather write their own. They don't want a writer taking their music and telling them... ”here’s your first verse, here’s the chorus...and this bridge goes there...”.
The Lyric Box doesn't tell you what to do. It's a totally new DIY format that’s looser, less structured, more instinctive. You decide which words work and what goes where.
There are no rules, except - if you make any money, please send me some. It’s an “honesty box” approach...I know, I know...I hear you laughing, but it’s the only way I see it working. I've written instructions, but really - just jump in. If one box doesn't work, try another. There's lots of lyrics covering all the big song writing themes - love, war, drugs. You've just got to find them. And bend them a bit.
Good luck.
